John 12:26-27

These verses were somewhat challenging to know how to draw, but it forced me to reflect deeper in myself.

For this first verse John 12:26- I wanted to reflect on what I feel it takes to first choose to follow and serve Christ. For me the act of first deciding to let go of all the distractions happening above me can be difficult. I have to have faith that the life God has for me is much more abundant and beautiful than anything I see right now.
The flowers above me look beautiful- but they are really just the lies from the world- the pride, attraction, status, greed and world’s favor- all these things are what I struggle to choose over Christ at times. But with faith I can remember that when I choose to place my heart, my “seed” in his soil- I can trust that he will grow a life that is far more gorgeous than any flower I could have in this world. Even when I can’t see it yet.

The next verse I wanted to reflect on time. In John 12:27 he says, “father, save me from this hour?” But for this purpose I have come to this hour.” Often, I feel like we have these hours in life that can be hard to choose God first in or can be so full of busyness that we forget God is the sole purpose behind these hours. And yet with our time we get the chance to choose Christ and say, “God, to you be the glory.”

This clock is my reminder to give God my hours, my choices, my time and my heart.
